Description

Signed note from Colonel Matthew Talcott, dated Aug. 13th, 1776, Middletown (Connecticut), referencing orders from Connecticut Governor Trumbull (spelled Trumbel in document) in which Talcott was directed to march his regiment from Middletown to New York (to reinforce General Washington's Continental Army against a looming massive British invasion), Talcott seeks immediate access to funds as not to delay the action, signed "Matthew Tallcott Colonel 23 Reg"; approx. 5"H, 8 1/4"W; good overall condition with some taped reinforcements to back (Inv. 17)
