Scottish Glazed Yellow Ware Cheese Dish, Seaton Pottery, Aberdeen, Scotland, Dated 1890. Possibly commemorating a marriage, covered in patches of blue, green and brown slip, applied on the front with a shield inscribed and dated "Mrs. FINDLAY 1890" in brown paint.H: 7.625 in., Diam: 10.125 in.According to the Aberdeen Museum, many pieces of Seaton Pottery were inscribed with women's names and a date, and they believe these were made to commemorate a marriage. It has been said that future mothers-in-law presented their new daughters-in-law with gifts of Seaton Pottery.
