
BRITISH & GERMAN MONARCHS: A remarkable oblong 4to page removed from an album individually signed by three monarchs and close members of their family, comprising (in order of appearance from head to foot) Queen Victoria (1819-1901) Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland 1837-1901, Prince Albert (1819-1861) Prince Consort of the United Kingdom, husband of Queen Victoria, Frederick III (1831-1888) German Emperor and King of Prussia 1888, the husband of Victoria, Princess Royal, and son-in-law of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; signed Frederick William, Prince of Prussia; King Edward VII (1841-1910) King of the United Kingdom 1901-10; signed Albert Edward, as Prince of Wales, Prince Alfred (1844-1900) Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Duke of Edinburgh, the second son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Victoria, Princess Royal (1840-1901) German Empress and Queen of Prussia March-June 1888 as the wife of German Emperor Frederick III, and the eldest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Princess Alice (1843-1878) Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine, the wife of Grand Duke Louis IV, and second daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. All have signed in bold, dark inks with excellent examples of their signatures, Queen Victoria adding the date, 1st July 1857, in her hand beneath her signature. The present signatures date from the period of engagement of Victoria, Princess Royal to Prince Frederick of Prussia, which had been publically announced on 17th May 1856. The wedding of Victoria and Frederick took place at the Chapel Royal of St. James´s Palace in London on 25th January 1858.
