
Description
Hans Graf Von Sponeck (1888-1944) Generalleutnant of the Heer, he disobeyed Hitler's direct orders to hold his ground and pilled out of Kerch, for disobeying this direct order, Sponeck was tried in front of the Court President Hermann Goring where he maintained that he had acted against orders, on his own initiative, in order to avoid the destruction of his division. He was found guilty of disobedience to a superior officer and given the death sentence. On Himmler's orders, Sponeck was shot to death on 23 July 1944. Document from Sponeck to the Governor of Bremen, Heinrich Bohmcker, congratulating him on his promotion, signed at the bottom in black ink, dated October 23, 1940. On the reverse is a message from Bohmcker thanking Sponeck for his congratulations, signed with an h at the bottom. Also including a small booklet on Sponeck, and four magazine article pages with information on Sponeck's life.
