Description
This fossil fish mural was quarried from our Fossil Lake stone layer, found in the famous 18 or F1 layers of the Green River Formation of Southwestern Wyoming. The mural contains three fossils. Two of the fossils have been exposed using small hand tools to chip away layers of stone that cover them. The removal of the stone reveals the natural warm brown color of the fossils. The third fossil remains covered with stone. The fossils include a large 20" Diplomystus dentatus and a 6-1/4" Knightia eocaena and a small Diplomystus dentatus (bottom left of the mural). The stone has wonderful gold tones due to natural iron oxides in the stone. This mural is supplied framed in a handmade Wenge wood frame backed in wood with a two-part French cleat applied to the back. It arrives ready to hang. We ship our fossils in custom-made wood crates fully insured against loss or damage."
