
Description
(1833 - 1887) Confederate major general who led cavalry in Price's raid in Missouri, wounded and captured at Marais des Cygnes, and while a prisoner became the last Confederate promoted to major general. Signature adding a New York address and dated 1885. Slightly toned at right, else very good. Matted with a (misidentified) carte de visite of Marmaduke in uniform and set into a slightly chipped wood frame.
