Description
Mid 20th century. Possibly from East or South Africa. An well crafted hand-carved walking staff or ceremonial "knobkerrie" fashioned from a single piece of dense, dark hardwood. The wood has developed a deep, lustrous patina from decades of handling. These were often used as symbols of power or made as traditional folk art. Has some cracks in the face from age and a synthetic stopper on the bottom of the staff. Provenance of a private collection of a dealer, San Francisco. We guarantee every item as described, and have 2-3 experts look at each item to come to a consensus. Please feel free to reach out at anytime with any questions, comments, concerns or issues. We ship in house and do what we can to ensure the shipping costs are as reasonable as possible.
