Early 19th to mid 20th century. Possibly from East or South Africa. An well crafted hand-carved walking staff or ceremonial "knobkerrie" fashioned from a single piece of dense, dark hardwood. The wood has developed a deep, lustrous patina from decades of handling. These were often used as symbols of power or made as traditional folk art. Provenance of a private collection of a dealer, San Francisco. We guarantee every item as described, and have 2-3 experts look at each item to come to a consensus.
