An American presentation walking cane, late 19th century, the likely vermeil (gold-washed silver) knob handle engraved 'T. Hedges, No. 19 West 20 st', unmarked, handle 1.5"h; overall 36.5"h. Note: In the late 19th century, West 20th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues was a high-end residential block. Notable neighbors included the Roosevelt family (Theodore Roosevelt?s birthplace was at 28 West 20th St).
