European School. Three academic figure studies. Graphite, comprising a large academy study of a male nude in dynamic pose after the Borghese Gladiator; a finished academic copy after Raphael’s Madonna della Seggiola depicting the seated Madonna with two children; and a cast study of the classical sculpture known as the Medici Venus, shown standing upon a pedestal. Each with extensive wear including toning, staining, creasing, and losses and tears at the sheet edges; the Venus study mounted to matting. All in as-found condition. Largest sheet approx. 24" x 19 3/8". Provenance: The Collection of David B. Lawall.
