From an old Poughkeepsie, NY estate, this 1797 dated crocheted sampler with two panels; "by This Work / You May See / What caremy / parents Took / For me - This Work / Hand my / Friends may have / When Iam Dead / and Laid / in my Grave" - Measuring 12" x 14" framed. Well done with all manner of animals, butterflies, trees, plants, flowers & more. Center of work - "ELA DIBB WAS BORN MAY / THE 29 1786 / AGED 11 1797".
The wording is as in the work with upper/lower case and lack of spacing on some words. very clean, bright colors.
