After Gustave Doré (France, 1832–1883). Five (5) wood engravings each engraved by Héliodore Pisan for the 1863 illustrated edition of Cervantes’ Don Quixote. Includes “Don Antonio’s wife had invited…” “Two ladies made their court…,” “I have nothing to do with all this…” “They found him pale…” and “By the sun that shines….” Printed on period lightweight book stock with strong, crisp impressions, each sheet measures approximately 11½ × 9½ inches with a mat that measure appx. 14 × 11 inches. Overall condition ranges from Very Good to Good, with ageappropriate toning throughout; onesheet (“I have nothing to do with all this…”) shows two approx. 1inch tears in the lower margin, while another (“By the sun that shines…”) exhibits minor edge wear and small margin losses; the remaining prints display age-appropriate wear. Each has a Davidson Gallery label verso on the mat.
