Description
A 1963 US Proof Set from the Philadelphia Mint. This collection of coins includes five denominations: a Lincoln cent, a Jefferson nickel, a Roosevelt dime, a Washington quarter, and a Franklin half dollar. The set is accompanied by an octagonal blue and silver token inscribed U.S. MINT PHILADELPHIA. The Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Franklin half dollar are struck in .900 fine silver. The coins are preserved in their original US Mint soft plastic cellophane packaging, further protected within a clear Capital brand acrylic screw-down holder. The holder features a gold-leaf inscription reading 1963 SILVER COIN SET and is marked CAPITAL PAT. 2998126. Obverses feature the standard portraits for each denomination dated 1963 with the legends LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Corresponding reverse designs include the Lincoln Memorial, Monticello, a torch flanked by branches, a bald eagle, and the Liberty Bell. The coins are in uncirculated proof condition as issued by the mint. The Franklin half dollar exhibits heavy, uniform copper-colored environmental toning across both surfaces. The Washington quarter and Jefferson nickel show lighter surface toning. The Roosevelt dime appears brilliant, and the Lincoln cent maintains its original red copper luster. The acrylic holder and inner cellophane show minor surface scratches and scuffing consistent with age and handling.
