Claire Markwick-Smith (b. 1993) is a designer and maker from Adelaide, South Australia. For the past decade, Claire has worked across spatial and object design in Australia and Los Angeles. Making and presenting work at the intersection of design and sculpture, she explores the relationship between composition, construction processes, and materiality. Through a speculative, sculptural approach to forms made from offcut materials, her practice is steeped in assessing and responding to modernist movements.

Once destined for automotive manufacture, solid blocks are sliced and imprinted, polished, and painted. Form and surface transform as parts connect, and environments become living reflections.
