Description
This fine collection of Native American lithic artifacts includes a large sandstone metate (grinding stone), a matching hand-held mano, and twelve assorted flint and chert projectile points. These tools, essential for daily life in North American indigenous cultures, exhibit traditional percussion and pressure flaking techniques. The mano features a smooth, rounded rectangular form indicative of extensive use and bears a collection or locality marking "FDL. Co. WI. A133" in black ink. The points display a variety of styles, including stemmed and lanceolate forms. The stone pieces are in solid, stable condition with natural weathering and minor surface abrasions consistent with age and excavation. The projectile points show typical edge wear and some minor tip loss on select specimens. Metate: H 1.25", W 9.5", D 14". Mano: H 1.75", W 3.5", D 6.5". Points: H 2" to 3.25". Please see photos for condition. Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available Post-Auction.
