Two copies of the script for David Lynch's twisted road trip romance Wild at Heart (The Samuel Goldwyn Company, 1990) each signed on their title pages by Barry Gifford author of the novel that the film is based on.
This lot includes a copy of the rare first draft of the 134-page script dated June 1, 1989. This script contains copies of handwritten scene numbers throughout a copy of a photograph of Lynch after the title page and "1st Draft / Wild at Heart" handwritten in marker on the spine.
According to Mr. Gifford's office, this first draft of Lynch's script was only distributed to a small circle of people. This script is accompanied by a typed note from producer Monty Montgomery on Propaganda Films stationery. The letter is dated June 5, 1989 and reads: "Dear Barry / Enclosed find a copy of 'Jack's Book' along with David's screenplay for 'Wild at Heart.' Hope all is well." It is hand-signed by Montgomery in green ink. In addition to producing Wild at Heart Montgomery is also well-known for another collaboration with Lynch as he portrayed the mysterious Cowboy in Mulholland Drive (Universal, 2001).
The other script is a copy of the revised first draft dated August 2, 1989 and runs 135 pages. This script is numbered "134" in the top right of the title page. Handwritten in marker on the spine is "2nd Draft / Wild at Heart."
Both scripts contain a cover page featuring a logo comprised of a heart above an "X."
