Large Rainbow Mouse Wheel
59 1/2 in. diameter, 5 1/4 in thick

Carnival goers would gather around this mouse wheel, place their bets on a color, and then a live mouse would be released onto the center of the spinning wheel. The winning color was chosen by the mouse, which would dive into a hole along the perimeter. Each radiating stripe is painted in bold red, yellow, blue, green, cream, brown, or black, and would presumably have different betting odds. A wonderfully designed carnival game and work of folk art.
