The front with further repoussé-set sound frets to the upper corners, the sides with sound frets of similar design, all enriched with architectural detailing and floral motifs. The back door matching the front, with large glazed observation window, all raised on a moulded base further supported on four cast brass bun feet. The 7.5 inch brass dial with Roman and Arabic chapter ring, divided by cruciform half-hour markers, the finely matted centre with mock pendulum aperture and oval name cartouche signed Thomas Cartwright, London, framed by cast brass spandrels and engraved borders. The break arch with now-missing strike/silent indicator and finely engraved calendar dial, centred by a star motif. Blued steel hands. The double gut fusee movement with verge escapement, united by five knopped and pinned pillars, striking the hours on a bell mounted above. The backplate finely engraved with scrolling foliage and foliate decoration, including engraved wheatear securing brackets, signed in a central cartouche Thomas Cartwright at Royal Exchange Londini Fecit. The top-left section fitted for a now-lost pull-quarter repeating mechanism. 50cm high.
