AN OLD POPLAR BACK BLANK
Substantial piece of seasoned poplar tonewood, reportedly aged for at least thirty to forty years and retained by a professional violin maker for future instrument-making purposes. The present blank displays generous dimensions and thickness, offering considerable versatility for the contemporary maker or workshop.

Penciled layout studies executed directly on the surface of the wood indicate sufficient material for multiple instrument backs, including several viola patterns and larger cello-sized work. Depending upon the maker's requirements and cutting preferences, the blank may also provide material suitable for double bass construction and related workshop projects.

An increasingly uncommon example of mature workshop stock, offered from the collection of a retired violin maker.
