This pair of lithographs is from the series of 26 views of Jersey, published in 1847 by Day & Son Lithographer (after the paintings by John Le Capelain) to commemorate Queen Victoria's visit to Jersey.

The lithographs are entitled St. Ouen's Bay, Jersey and Bouley Bay, Jersey.

frame: 36 by 30 ½ inches
Born in London, Le Capelain later moved to Jersey where he learned his father's trade of lithography. He was a self-taught painter. After Queen Victoria's visit to Jersey in 1846, his series of paintings of the islands' scenery was presented to her as a gift. This led to later commissions from the Queen.

Condition Notes: Both lithographs are vividly hand-colored. There is foxing throughout the paper on both prints. The frame is gold and includes a decorative gold fillet bordering hand drawn french lines, all of which is in good condition with few flaws.
