Description
This captivating large lamp's focal point is the deeply carved or molded relief figures with distinct faces and geometric patterns that evoke ancient Mayan or Aztec tribal artistry. Adding to its aged charm is the texture and multi tonal brown and cream hues of the pottery. The Tiki influence along with the double snake handles is inspired by Polynesian and Mesoamerican art, which is reflected in the brutalist design, characteristic of the 1970's. The deeply carved or molded relief patterns depict stylistic fierce faces and intricate geometric or tribal motifs. In top of the pottery base is a pleated lampshade in a rich burnt orange, which glows vibrantly when illuminated. This lamp serves both a functional lighting fixture and a statement decor piece showcasing a blend of vintage and cultural artistry, making it a focal point in any room. This lamp would make a striking addition to interiors embracing eclectic, bohemian or mid century modern decor, serving as a conversation starter due to its unique artistic expression. The lamp base measures 16" wide by 16" deep by 18 1/2" tall. The shade measures 15" tall by 20" in diameter. The lamp with the shade on measures 28 1/2" tall by 20" in diameter. This lamp is in very good vintage condition. The shade has some minor flaws as seen in photos.
