19th Century Staffordshire No. 5 Dogs / Spaniels

Description

Mid 19th century Staffordshire pottery King Charles spaniel dogs modeled in the traditional seated form with expressive faces and hand-painted red and white decoration. Marked Number 5 to the underside, indicating size within early Staffordshire production, with lower numbers representing larger examples. Numbered pairs are particularly sought after by collectors, especially for the smaller stature dogs. These are just a perfect size to tuck into a bookshelf or small space. Very Good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. As with most early Staffordshire, there is no maker's mark.
