Description

Large antique English Staffordshire King Charles spaniel dogs featuring a traditional seated form with hand-painted decoration and characteristic pink noses. Large examples such as these were produced as mantel ornaments and remain among the most recognizable forms of Victorian decorative ceramics. A sought-after larger scale pair with strong decorative presence suitable for mantel, console, or cabinet display. As with most early Staffordshire, there is no maker's mark. Made circa 1860.
