Mid 19th century pair of English Staffordshire dogs decorated with copper lustre accents and hand-painted detailing. The traditional seated form is enlivened by unusual blue eyes and rich metallic highlights, reflecting the decorative appeal and craftsmanship associated with Staffordshire pottery of the period. As with most early Staffordshire, there is no maker's mark.
