Description
The town and surrounding Kurdish carpets of the eponym city, often in room or larger sizes. All wool before 1920, cotton warp afterward. Medallion and allover patterns. Heavy and compact. City weavers work from samplers (wagirehs). Village Bidjars are in scatter sizes, with more geometric patterns. Bidjar weaves range from moderate to very fine. Scatters yes, runners very few. Incredibly long-wearing.
