Description
Rococo Revival Dresden Porcelain Footed Bowl, by Helena Wolfsohn, circa 1890
A finely hand-painted and richly modeled Rococo Revival porcelain bowl, attributed to the Helena Wolfsohn workshop, Dresden, circa 1890. This ornamental footed bowl features a sculptural asymmetrical form with an elaborate scroll handle, raised on four curled rocaille feet and highlighted throughout with hand-applied gilding.
The interior is decorated with a large central bouquet in the Meissen Streublumen tradition, featuring finely painted roses, ranunculus, violets, and forget-me-nots in soft tones of lavender, coral, yellow, and green. Smaller floral sprigs are scattered along the walls and exterior. The white porcelain ground is molded with baroque-style foliate scrolls and shell motifs, all enhancing the richly layered composition.
Marked on the underside with a crowned "˜D' in underglaze blue, a mark historically associated with the Helena Wolfsohn studio, known for high-quality hand-decorated wares in the Meissen style. The bowl's scale and delicacy suggest it was designed for use as a salon centerpiece, bonbon dish, or for display in a cabinet.
