A stunning mid-century Japanese studio pottery vase featuring an almost black glaze accented with shimmering copper specks and two stylized gold maple leaves. The richly textured surface has an organic, volcanic quality reminiscent of wabi-sabi aesthetics, celebrating natural variation and the beauty of imperfection. Likely dating from the 1950s to 1970s, this handcrafted piece reflects the artistry of Japan's postwar ceramics movement"”balancing rustic texture with refined form. The interior and rim are smoothly glazed in deep brown, while the underside bears an impressed potter's mark and its original "Made in Japan" label. The pair of golden maple leaves, traditional symbols of autumn and reflection, add a subtle sense of poetry and seasonality.
