This rare Piero Fornasetti plate is from a series made for the Fleming Joffe company in New York City.

The Fleming Joffe company was a small leather goods company in New York. Fornasetti was not the only famous artist this company worked with. Andy Warhol produced ads and copy for them as well as decorating their show booths and showroom. They also commissioned Ogden Nash to pair his bouncy text with Warhol's drawings.

Reference: Fornasetti: The Complete Universe, Barnaba Fornasetti, Page 614, #162 for a selection of examples from this series of fourteen plates which were issued in twos at Christmas and New Year and given to clients of the company.
