I'm standing in front of many boxes of silver items at a legendary Mid-Atlantic auction house.

Pitchers, candlesticks, every shape of bowl, compote and tray...and then I saw these these.

Hmmm...nice form, large catch trays, tall necks, layered base... nice finish, not over or under polished...not too much frivolous detail. Smooth, elegant, lovely.

Step Two...

Picked them up...oooooh....heavy, good edges and seams, no loose or soft pieces...these are nice.

Thoughts run to horserace and event tailgates, holiday centerpieces, candles of all sizes, never having to worry about wax on your fine furniture...

Step Three...

Boom. Got 'em.
