Description
When our Navajo guide brought us to Antelope Canyon, I could see what it's called a slot canyon. It is a narrow fissure in a 50-foot high cliff. It was created over countless centuries by flash floods carving through sandstone. The swirling of the water contributes to the unique formations. Most of the time, the canyon is dry. As we entered, our world changed from hot and sunny to cool and cavelike. The beams of light shine only at certain times of the year, and only mid-day. So the opportunities for photos are limited and I timed my visit carefully. The high contrast is a challenge to photograph. It's a dream location for creating uniquely artistic photos.
