Description
Another rare one-of-a-kind find! This lobster-topped soup tureen makes me smile. I'm ready to drop everything and gather my family and friends for a hearty dinner al fresco.
This is an artisanal piece for sure -- hand-glazed ceramic from Italy and produced in limited quantities. The tureen itself is quite generous in size and has a built-in cutaway to accommodate your favorite silver serving spoon. The red glazing of the lobster is a stunning and happy appetite-inducing color. The lobster itself is articulated with quite a lot of detail -- enough so that it has a personality and whimsy about it -- as though it's draped itself over the top of the tureen for a bit of R & R.
The piece is in excellent condition overall, especially given its age. It appears to be barely used. There is one almost imperceptible hairline crack, which I've zoomed in to enlarge so you can see it. Shown in the last picture here.
Additional Dimension Details:
Depth of tureen is 7"
Width of tureen is 11"
Height of tureen (without Lid is 7.5"
