Takashiba Sanyu, was an Edo based Japanese cartographer active from approx 1848-1879, primarily known for detailed maps of his hometown, Edo (modern Tokyo). He also created this notable and accurate map of Japan, which combined traditional Japanese cartography with European innovations.
