Description
Beautifully restored antique carousel horse from 1890, manufactured by the Armitage Herschel Co. White coat, matching white mane and a white blonde real cow tail! The saddle is designed after an eagle, and has two symmetrical eagle profiles on either side of the back saddle. Bright primary colors for the saddle blanket and breastplate that contrast the coat nicely.
This fabulous horse has been wonderfully cared for and restored by Mary Lawrence Youree. Youree and her husband were world-famous carousel figure collectors and were considered the experts on carousel figure restoration. This horse is coming from one of their apprentices in Oregon City and has been very well looked after. The horses body, limbs, and head are made out of bass wood due to it's practical feature of never warping. The visible seams in the neck area as well as the front and back haunches are not damage. These seams are where the bass wood sections were joined together. The body of the horse is hollow to make it slightly lighter. It can be lifted off the pole, making it easier to transport. The stand is custom made for displaying carousel horses. It's very sturdy and keeps the horse around the height it would be at if still on a carousel.
