This vintage African tribal mastic faux amber beaded necklace is a beautiful example of Moroccan culture. Necklace represents wealth and social status, serving as a portable form of savings. These beads were used as a form of money and traded throughout Africa from the 1920-1940's.
beads were often made from a phenolic resin, like Bakelite. Hand smoothed, some tool marks still noticeable today. These here are light cream, graduated size from .72- .95", 23 beads total. Natural fine cracks "crazing" shown in pictures. Pictures show you each and every angle, no hidden damages.
