Description
Exquisite antique Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase, dating to the late Meiji/early Taisho era. This piece features the prestigious Shimazu family crest and is signed by the Koshida workshop. The vase is masterfully decorated with a continuous landscape scene depicting a traditional temple complex (pagoda), figures in kimonos, and lush flora, including cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums.
The artistry utilizes heavy moriage enameling and burnished gold leaf accents against a classic ivory crackle-glazed ground. Standing approximately 10 inches tall, the vase exhibits a graceful ovoid form with a gilded rim.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor age-related wear to the gilding and natural crazing consistent with authentic Satsuma earthenware. Includes carved wood display stand.
