This marvelous antique George III style teapot and matching trivet are created in gorgeous sterling silver, produced by George Baskerville, a London silversmith in 1796. This beautiful teapot has a bean shaped finial to open the hinged lid and the body of the oval shaped teapot is fluted along the sides. There is a carved walnut handle, curved in a gentle "C' and attached with silver impressed attachments24. The spout of the teapot is elongated. The gorgeous trivet has a pie crust edging with turned feet. Hallmarks are" GB=George Baskerville, Rampant lion=English sterling, Leopard head with crown=London, Date letter A=1796, Regent assay mark=Regent facing R. Hallmarks are the same on both pieces. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Length from handle to spout=10-1/2 inches, Height=6 inches, Depth from front to back=3-1/2 inches, Trivet length=7-1/4 inches, Width=5 inches, Weight of teapot and trivet=19.87 Troy ounces. This marvelous teapot and trivet have been well cared for, gently used and are in excellent antique condition, free from cracks or repairs. There is light scratching on the base of the trivet, most likely due to the teapot being picked up and put down on the trivat. There is some random, very light scratching on the teapot surface. They are commensurate with age and use and do not diminish the beauty of the beautiful set.
