Description
A beautifully hand-painted blue and white porcelain tea bowl, likely dating to the Qing Dynasty (late 17th to early 18th century), with stylistic echoes of late Ming transitional ware. The exterior features expressive brushwork in underglaze cobalt, depicting stylized trees and foliage in a freely painted landscape that wraps around the bowl. A single floral motif is painted inside the bowl, framed by double ring borders.
The glaze is smooth with a faint bluish cast, and the foot-ring is unglazed with kiln grit and firing marks consistent with antique production methods. The base is unmarked, as is typical of many domestic and export wares from this period. We were told this was likely Qing era when we bought it, but can't be sure.
Compact and elegant at 4.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches high, this piece is perfect for display, tea service, or as a refined catchall.
