19th Century French Savoyard Souvenir Pitcher – Menthon-Saint-Bernard

Description

A small, rustic French souvenir pitcher from the 19th century, originating from Menthon-Saint-Bernard, a picturesque village nestled in the Haute-Savoie region near Lake Annecy. Handcrafted in terracotta and finished in a deep brown glaze, the pitcher is decorated with naive, hand-painted alpine scenery"”including fir trees and an edelweiss flower"”accompanied by raised lettering that reads MENTHON ST. BERNARD.

Likely produced as a memento for travelers visiting the French Alps, this charming piece embodies the simple, homespun character of regional pottery.
