Description
Sheffield silver large size tureen marked on the inside of the lid with a cross over a globe and the initials ITC which indicates it was made by Walker, Knowles and Co., 47 Burgess Street, London, England in 1840. The date puts it a little bit after the true Regents reign, but it is done in the Regency style. Extraordinary features include especially ornate animal feet held by swirling leaves and intricate handles on either side with leaves as well as a leaf and gooseberry design on the lid handle. At the top of the bowl of piece is crimped for a balance effect. Impressive handles measure 4.50 inches across. See other measurements below.
