Description
Pre-war Gibson J-35 slope-shoulder flat-top acoustic guitar, circa 1939. Natural-finish spruce top over mahogany back and sides, single cream binding to top and back, multi-ring soundhole rosette, dark teardrop pickguard, belly-down rosewood bridge, and rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays (19 frets). Script Gibson headstock logo, no banner; three-on-a-plate strip tuners with cream buttons. The rear of the headstock is impressed with the Factory Order Number EG-7200 (pre-war system: "E" denotes 1939, "G" denotes Gibson); the interior mahogany neck block retains a faded factory stamp ending in "B," a 1936-stamped component. Retains its original natural finish. Housed in a hardshell case. Original finish with extensive lacquer checking and honest play wear throughout; no evidence of refinishing. Crack to the back running with the grain, appears unrepaired. Age-typical binding shrinkage with separation in areas. Tuner and bridge originality unverified.
