17/18thC Mongolian Silver or Silver Alloy Tara- Sits 2 1/2 inches tall and extremely heavy for its size, 3 5/8 inches on its custom base. From an old Hawaiian collection. Sold by the previous owner (an Asian art dealer who had this piece in their personal collection for several decades) to fund a kitchen renovation. An all-time favorite. Purchased at the Pacific Arts of Asia Show (the premier vetted Asian antique show on the west coast of the USA) almost 30 years ago. Apears to be cast out of a silver alloy, as the places that show the most wear such as the fingertips and the tip of the noses have the soft silver look of high percentage silver alloy. Also, the patina has a blackish gray color that is typical of tarnished silver. in excellent condition, with no damage. A few of the(modern replacement) semi precious stones are missing.
