Description
A small painting by Danish artist Julius Paulsen (1860-1940) depicting a nude woman emerging from a wooded forest, her feet in a small stream or pond. This is beautifully executed, nude study or bather, with delicately detailed facial features and a cascade of red hair crowned with a garland of flowers. As Paulsen evolved, his style drifted into Symbolism. He frequently painted figures dancing or idling in dimly lit, ethereal forests. which strongly evoke the mood of pagan nymphs or classical woodland myths. A small gem of a painting by a masterful artist.
