The wide border is entirely covered in richly etched 22-carat gold featuring an intricate all-over design of phoenixes, scrolling grotesques, and classical ornamental motifs "” extraordinarily detailed and deeply luxurious. The center of each plate presents a delicate hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet on a crisp white ground, ringed by a narrow gold band.
