Description
A 19th Century French Napoleon III marquetry box, hand-crafted of walnut and thuya burl wood veneers with ebonized trim. Fine mother-of-pearl and brass inlay with center medallion on lid, perfect for monogramming. Small turned wood feet. The interior is lined in tufted blue silk. Working lock and small key. Good craftsmanship, similar to the fine quality boxes made by Tajan, Paris. In good condition with minor losses. Silk is slightly threadbare. Circa 1870-1890.
