Description
A 19th century French Napoleon III marquetry double compartment tea caddy, featuring a serpentine silhouette and parquetry pattern edged with a brass molding. Mahogany veneer with a prominent Greek key motif and herringbone patterned sides and back. A slightly domed lid has an oval mother of pearl inlay. The ebonized interior is fitted with two brass inlaid covered compartments for loose tea. No key. Fine quality is similar to Tajan, Paris. Circa 1870-1890.
