A 19th century French boite à sel, or salt box from Provence. Made of walnut with a pierced carved star at the top and a drawer with brass knob. Waxed finish. Unusually tall size. Note: there is a hole in the back formed by a split in the knot of the wood. This box was used to store salt and pepper and would have been hung on the kitchen wall. Measures: 9" W x 7.75" D x 25.5" H.
