Description
This small woven tray from the early 20th century celebrates the beautiful simplicity of a hand-woven object. The dish is tightly woven of bamboo to a square-to-round form and finished with a thick coating of thayo, a mixture of black lacquer and sawdust. The rhythmic texture of the interlaced reeds is traceable beneath the lacquer finish, richly aged with great character and a timeworn patina.
