Description
This piece features an exaggerated, expressionist illustration of Grigori Rasputin with a furrowed brow and a large, textured beard. It is part of his portfolio titled "Crime by Cuevas". Cuevas was a prominent figure of the "Generación de la Ruptura" (Breakaway Generation) in Mexico, an artistic movement of the 1950s that broke with the nationalism and figuration of Muralism, opening itself up to abstraction, surrealism, and personal experimentation. They sought creative freedom and international modernity. This #2/100 piece is hand-signed and dated "1-MAY-68" in pencil and is considered rare.
