Description
An elegant 46- piece porcelain dinner service in Richard Ginori's celebrated "Impero Yellow" pattern "” the storied Italian house's neoclassical interpretation of Empire style. The pattern is defined by a soft citrine-yellow band, fine black-and-gold line work, and a central classical urn motif, a hallmark of the neoclassical vocabulary. The porcelain is of exceptional whiteness and translucency, with the warm yellow and bright gilt giving the set its sunlit, refined character.
Acquired in the 1950s and held in the same family ever since "” inherited from the original owner's aunt "” this is a single-family provenance reflecting generations of gracious entertaining.
Set includes (45 pieces, service for 9):
"• 9 dinner plates
"• 9 salad plates
"• 9 bread-and-butter plates
"• 9 coffee cups
"• 9 coffee saucers
"• Mustard/ condiments boat with saucer and spoon.
Richard Ginori, founded in Doccia in 1735, is among Europe's most distinguished porcelain manufacturers. The "Impero Yellow" pattern is now discontinued, making complete services for nine increasingly difficult to assemble. The distinctive cylindrical flat-handled coffee cups, the gilt-rimmed saucers, and the recurring gold urn make this a particularly handsome and collectible service.
The look is timeless "” equally at home on a formal table or mixed into a more eclectic, collected setting. Yellow and gold reads beautifully against linen, mahogany, or a painted dining room.
