An original John F. Kennedy PT-109 tie clip featuring a gold-tone depiction of Kennedy’s famous World War II patrol torpedo boat cutting through stylized waves, with the name “KENNEDY” prominently engraved along the hull. The reverse retains its original tie-bar fastening and maker’s mark.

According to the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity from the Erik L. Dorr Collection, this tie clip originated from the estate of longtime Secret Service agent Floyd Boring and is described as an “Original Kennedy PT-109 Tie Clip from the estate of Secret Service agent Floyd Boring.” The piece represents a tangible connection to one of the individuals closest to Kennedy throughout his presidency.

Floyd M. Boring was among the most trusted members of President Kennedy’s Secret Service detail. Assigned to Kennedy during the 1960 presidential campaign, Boring became chief of the White House detail and remained constantly at the president’s side throughout much of his administration. Following the assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963, Boring continued his distinguished Secret Service career and later served in senior protective roles for subsequent presidents. Artifacts originating from his estate are highly sought after due to his uniquely close association with the Kennedy family and administration.
